I answered, but does the asterisk next to question 1 refer to something (or signify something)?

BP Writer, thank you for taking my survey! The asterisk is surveymonkey's way of showing the question is required or needs to be answered in order to submit your responses. I'm still somewhat new to surveymoneky and to surveys in general. I'm not sure if it is necessary for the question to be required or not. I was kind of testing it out by making the first question required and the next not.
