    I hope you play with it a bit Frederick, for the following reasons:

    1. As Steve said, it is a good way to organize your site in the same way as external style sheets. You only need to modify your header for all pages in one place.

    2. Its easy.

    3. It will get your feet wet (or at least damp) which can lead to pursuing more interesting things you can do with php or server side code should you so desire.

    Item 1. is a non-starter for me. Of course it has value for someone who has hundreds of pages and/or works on other peoples' websites, but I don't. I have 30 pages or so, and while each banner may look the same, every one is different. Sure, I could make them the same but I see no point - 30 pages is not an excessive number to change occasionally.

    Items 2 and 3 are valid and may lead me to it in the future. Right now, learning css is enough.
