Thread: Is direct mail marketing still relevant

The key here is to TEST and TEST. It really depends on the type of business you are in. Some types of businesses, it works well, but not in every situation. You need to evaluate one metric, which is: does direct mail cost more to acquire a customer exceed their total lifetime value? If its more, then its not worth it. If its less, by all means scale up as fast as possible.

    Hi Jona,

I believe that physical mail leaves a great impression on customers, since it could bring a substantial connection with the marketing material. Postcard marketing campaigns are a great way to get noticed for less money. I'm running a men's boutique specialized for selling casual clothing for the past few years. I tried a different technique to attract customers to my boutique. I asked the customers to bring the postcard into the store for a special discount. It was really effective! One major advantage of direct mail advertising is that it's highly targeted. I suggest you to include a special tracking code with each card mailing. So, it would be easier to obtain the response rate. Postcards are more likely to be read than other types of mail or advertising media.

Since you as of now have a web based advertising program, I figure coordinate mailing would supplement superbly. In a perfect world you are sending a focused on mailer to your average customers.

The genuine inquiry is... what is your offer?? What is the reason somebody will react to your post office based mail piece? Is it accurate to say that you are sending to a focused on list or to all the post boxes inside a couple of mile span of your business?

I think you should go for the email marketing of your business because it will enhance the output of your business.

Direct mail will be effective if the receiver is aware from your brand and this only shows that you are popular and established in the field.

Yes, it still works but sometimes it seems like offending to the people. Direct mail increases the probability that a person will open, and view your post whenever he/she will be free even at the end of the day.

Direct Mail is still relevant and should be used to compliment your other forms of advertising as part of your overall marketing plan. As Denise said above if it didn't work why is my mailbox filled with direct mailers every week. I would suggest a simple easy to understand message for your mailers and for any advertising you do. People only glance at ads (regardless of the type) so they need to be easy to understand.

I think a colourful and vibrant flyer would definitely catch attention. What are your opinions regarding this? Should I go forward with this? Is there any other ideas that I could use for promotion?
    "Catching attention" is step one.
"Getting response" is the goal and it should be very easy and fast and small.
The easier the next tiny step, the better.
Direct mail is WIDE OPEN because email inboxes are full of garbage.
Every contact should ADD VALUE to the customer just for reading it.

Add value to them at every step. Lumpy packages work.
