Question About Subscription Site Payment

I intend to set up a subscription website for members from all countries. I had thought of accepting subscription payments in USD, possibly only through Paypal, as I do not want to involve any payment processing software on my site.

Is there a better way than using a single currency as payment? For a business which is not based in the US, what is the best practice? Any advice would be welcome.

One way or the other you're going to spend more on inter-currency transactions, either in the conversion to put it into your bank account or the conversion at purchase time. But here's something to think about: you lose something at currency conversion step as the cost of conversion. But you can account for that by accepting different currencies and offering currency-specific pricing (which includes the conversion costs). So go through the literature on that on the PayPal site and figure out your best plan that reduces your currency conversion costs.
