In OH, I see all these licenses and permits, but which one do I get for blogging?

The title is pretty self explanatory. I was on this website "http://business.ohio.gov/licensing/" trying to figure out what business license I need. I know for a fact when it comes to trademarking my business name blogging would be class 41.

I can't imagine you need a license to be a blogger in Ohio or anywhere else in the United States, especially since blogging on it's own isn't a business. How would you be making money?

I think the page you linked to lists types of businesses that do require an additional license of some kind, but it's not a listing of every possible business. The first sentence on the page reads:

Businesses are required to register with the Ohio Secretary of State to legally conduct business in the state

I think the list of businesses you see require more than registering with the state, but I don't think it means every business is required to get the more specific type of licenses that some businesses need.

You don't necessarily need a business license just to blog, you can be a sole proprietor and just report your additional income. Also having a business license has no bearing on the legal protection of your trademark. If you own the trademark, you own the trademark. Enforcing it in court is another issue and still has no bearing on a business license.

Don't over think it and spend hours agonizing over a business license. Get the thing up and running and see if you can even make any money from it.
If you need a quick answer, pick up the phone and call them. They can probably tell you in under 5 minutes.

I found out the answer, if you do any type of work at home type business then you need a home occupation permit. You won't get that from your state, but from your local county. Regardless, thx u guys for answering.
