    Default Browsers

OK everyone that has website, what is your breakdown on browsers. There is a lot of hype on Chrome and iphone gaining market share, yet I'm not seeing it on my site. For those of you that can, post your breakdown. Mine is below:

    Explorer: 86.1%
    Firefox: 10.8%
    Safari: 2.5% (Safari Iphone = 0.5%)
    Chrome: 0.4%
    Opera: 0.1%
    All others: 0.1%

(Iphone shows up in Google as an operating system and is a subset of the Safari users)

    Interesting Rezzy,
was your client log also tech related? I'm curious if that may be the reason your stats are so different than the others.

Actually not. Their site is a skin care business and curtails to a wide variety of clients. Its weird though, I just rechecked the site stats (Google Analytics) and the numbers have changed.
    1. Firefox 45.16%
    2. Internet Explorer 45.16%
    3. Safari 6.45%
    4. Camino 3.23%

Asked a friend who does consulting for hi tech firms in Silicon Valley if the engineers use IE or Firefox. He said they almost never use firefox in corporate environments. It's just easier for the IT guy or department to install windows and call it a day.

I'd draw the conclusion that FF is mostly used by home users. A friend of mines girlfriend is a 50 yo nurse. She uses FF. Go figure? Kids may install it quite a bit as well??

    Here's my stats.

    MS Internet Explorer 86 %
    Firefox 10.2 %
    Safari 1.8 %
    Mozilla 1 1.2 %
    Google Chrome 0.1 %
    Opera 0.1 %

These numbers should vary from site to site. Here's my site:

    Firefox: 49.94%
    Internet Explorer: 36.67%
    Safari: 6.57%
    Chrome: 3.54%
    Opera:2.14%
    Mozilla: 0.46%
    Mozilla Compatible Agent: 0.29%
    Camino: 0.12%
    SeaMonkey: 0.12%
    Konqueror: 0.06%

    and here's this forum:

    Firefox: 56.78%
    Internet Explorer: 34.39%
    Opera: 4.94%
    Safari: 2.96%
    Chrome: 0.67%
    Mozilla: 0.13%
    Konqueror: 0.07%
    Camino: 0.04%
    Mozilla Compatible Agent: 0.02%

Recently I saw an article with some general numbers placing IE around 67%, Firefox at 23% and Safari just under 10%. Google Chrome was at 1% and everything else was negligible. The numbers above may not add up quite right since I'm going on memory and rounding a bit.

Overall the basic trends I see in general reports and also my own stats is that IE's market share is decreasing. Firefox is the main beneficiary of that with Safari also gaining market share. Chrome, while holding a very small market share is actually off to a really good start and I suspect once they make a version for Mac and offer the ability for developers to create extensions for the browser they'll grow even faster and take market share away from FF.

I have most of the popular browsers installed on my computer and have found that I still like Firefox best. Each does has its advantages and things that make it nice, little features that Firefox can get once you add the famous plugin.

But I heard to many plugins can slow the browser so what is the best mix between functionality and speed?
