I linked to this blog on another thread, but now I am interested in a few opinions.

It is meant to be a Political Lampoon and current events type of video blog, in the fashion of similar paper magazines from the past , so there are the obligatory sexy babes, but there is nothing explicit or pornographic on it, but it may be a little raunchier that what is normally posted up for review.

It's stuff that I can't do on my other Political blog, so the plan is to have a friend write that one, so that I can do this one which is a lot more fun.:)

Interested in a few opinions on it, thanks. The Link (http://www.bouncingbettys.com)

I fall into the category of a bit deranged so it is right up my alley. I am bookmarking it just for the "funniest forum thread" feature.

Good stuff.

Seems interesting enough. I'm not sure I see a lot of other sites like this and I see no reason why it couldn't work as a site. I can see a lot of people liking it.

How does it look ? Too much advertising ?

There is quite a bit of advertising, but not more than I've seen on other blogs. I think it looks pretty professional.

There is a lot going on, but I think people can figure out where the content is pretty easily.

I'm probably going to dump one of the sidebar banners when I can find something to replace it, one of them is just there to preserve a little symmetry. I usually stick to 2 ad blocks on the front page.

As far as the Amazon DVD previewer...I admit it's kind of big, but I always wanted to incorporate it somewhere to see how it flies. (Too bad they don't have one like that for video game trailers)

Overall I will probably extend the front page article blocks to include 2 more, when I can find more relevant content for the sidebars, so the ads don't overpower the blog, like it does now.

I need to work on the cafe press store a little more to include T-shirts and hats (and I get some good designs)...it's the first time I have done something so silly as selling coffee mugs, but it is a silly kind of blog.

Thanks for the reviews so far.

I agree with Kristine about the advertising. There is a lot, but it's not so overwhelming. Overall the site does have a professional look.

The only real negative things I can come up with is it doesn't really grab my attention and The images should probably be links. I'd go slightly raunchier than it currently is. Given the theme of you other sites, maybe some biker stuff?

Looks good though.

I have to walk a thin line. My hosting company does not allow adult content, and I like hosting my sites there.
The biker stuff is planned, that is definitely a good idea. Trying to find a good source that is not completely "spread eagle" if you know what I mean.

The images being links (I just noticed that) ...it's not a function of the template,(free Word Press theme) and I'll need some time to figure out how to hack it in. I already hacked the heck out of it with my eyes closed.

Raunchier ? First time anyone ever said that. I like the way you think Bill :)

If you need a host that doesn't care, PM me. I know of one that comes well recommended, although I haven't used them personally.

I think I will keep everyone clothed for now, thanks Bill. I did come up with a different option instead of the Amazon DVD previewer in the middle.

Found some Ebay editor stuff, and was able to configure the product feed matching the Harley Store, removed the Sirius banner, and swapped it our for some real news feeds for Politics, and Humor.

All that is left is to get some products in the "schwag" store and write some content. (And of course the SEO...yawn)

Now I'm starting to feel a little better about it, now that the ads make sense.

Women aren't generally stimulated by "Tushies" to make purchases online, or on T.V....at least not the products that I am selling. They are better targets to sell them something that will make them look, or feel more attractive.

It's just the basics...Women take care of how they look to attract the opposite sex..men buy stuff.

The Bettie Page stuff is there to try and have some glue to pull the theme together. Also, since the site does have videos of web girls dancing and such, it's just a reminder that we have always been fascinated with watching attractive women..for lack of a better term.."Shake it".

Ya, I was thinking more along the lines of biker week photos. You could probably find someone who was there willing to sell photo's they took. Considering the kind of sites you do, it might be worth a road trip. I think its in spring sometime.

I have a political site I want to work on this year. It's just a template right now. We might be able to do an article exchange later in the year. The intent of my site is pretty much a trash the politicians site. It's an old domain so it should be out of the sandbox anyway. Take a peek: the-democratic-party.com Like I said, it's just a template, but you should be able to get an idea of where I want to go with it.

Oh, I am all about pointing out political stupidity. It's my favorite past time.

I was actually talking to a a few friends of mine who ride in this area about doing (Photographing) some local girls who ride with them. One is a photographer and takes pictures for the club. They do calendars for charity and such...I'll get something together soon.

Actually, I am more concerned about why I am so severely sand boxed right now. I have never had my posts, or blog buried this far on Google before. I know it's only been up for a week or so, but this is ridiculous when a bookmark shows, but not the actual link.

I don't trust sites to get out of the sandbox for 6 months or so; if not longer. Sometimes you get lucky. That reminds me to add registering a few domains to my todo list this week.

I just looked at the site again. I like the palin thing at the top. Made me laugh. I'd put your on site SEO on the priority list. It might not help you tomorrow for the sandbox thing, but at least down the road.??

I don't use WP but I know there are some plug ins for SEO. Let me know and I'll do some research.

Out of curiosity, does wordpress allow for daily article updates? Recipe of the day sort of thing that you can program in January and not mess with it until next January? I know Joomla does that, but it's not a blog style although WP seems to be the most popular CMS out there now.

I already have All in One SEO Plug in Installed, that is pretty much the standard. This is the first real sandbox that I can remember for some time, and it is very frustrating.

Yes, in Word Press you can set your posts as far into the future as you like, post remotely, or make multiple posts timed for future dates, and it will post when ever you set it, where ever you want it to be.

The Palin Thing...believe it or not, that is a real book cover ! It's actually for sale at Amazon.

eborg, i hear you and see where you are...but you have a pretty narrow view of women...they buy a lot more than just stuff to attract men...
oh well...you are in a rare business if its all about men...now i think most industries are realizing women do most of the deciding, from cars to houses to hardware to services..women are major buyers in many other businesses outside of the area of trying to be attractive to men.......
.. i think its kind of the other way around after age 30 anyway, meaning men spending a lot to please women.... as it should be.......smile..

Ann, my wife worked at a retail store doing dressing room duty a while back. Something she noted is that women would bring a shopping cart full of stuff to the dressing room, try everything on, and then buy one item or nothing. Men would bring one item, if it fit they would buy it.

My wife spent today shopping. She's going to return half the stuff she bought. I know it would be very rare for me to return something.

One couple isn't a very good market sample to come up with a trend. Still, we follow some typical stereotypes.

The beauty of web sites is if they are done properly, you can do a really good job of profiling your customers. In fact, for local only retail stores, that could probably justify having a web site, even if you never sell anything on it. If you can get someone to put a name in a form, you probably have their gender even if they don't use their real name. I might use bill, bob, or John; but I have never used Mary, Alice, or Missy.

It would be pretty easy to do a lookup table in a database for that type of profiling. Just a little food for thought.

I don't have a narrow view of women at all. Of course women make most of the household decisions, and have incredible buying power. There are probably more women with discretionary income today, than men, but I am not selling those things on this site, I am selling fun.

Now my weight loss site, does target women, and it comes from a completely different direction.

Some of my other sites don't sway either way, they just provide information for buyers.

I would be really misinformed if I thought that this would be a good site in which to sell Caralluma Fimbriata Appetite suppressants , or Lauren Hutton's water based cosmetics.

It is not, and those ads would be out of place.

It works for Video Games, Harley Stuff, and Enzyte, and men are a much easier targets..a few laughs, and some boobs. If I could pour a cold beer on the site, I would.

You have given me a good idea though.
