Small Web Biz's Guide To Internet Marketing

Traffic or visitors to your website is the only way that you have a chance of making money with your online business. If you do not have traffic coming to your websites then it is really just sitting there doing nothing for you. Getting the traffic needed to create a profitable web based business is one of the hardest things to do.

Pay Per Click Advertising

One of the easiest ways to start getting traffic to your website is by creating a Pay Per Click Campaign. These are advertising campaigns that you can set up via Google Adwords or other major advertising companies. The whole process can take less than 30 minutes to get set up and start receiving traffic to your site. The difficult part about PPC campaigns is choosing the correct keywords for your website.

Article Marketing

The next method of getting traffic to your website is Article Marketing, which is writing articles that contain your websites link in them and submitting them to article directories. The article directories will then allow people to use the articles that you have written on their own site, which in turn will give you more back links pointing to your website. As we all know the more backlinks that we have pointing to our website the higher our ranking will be in searches.

If you are knowledgeable about certain things a good way to get more customers to your website is by writing articles. You can write articles about anything you want. In doing this you can get noticed by a lot of different readers which in turn they might visit your website.

When writing articles you can always put your website address in the article. This is a very effective way of advertising. Share your knowledge and get more customers. Very simple and you will probable see more an immediate increase of traffic to your website. On our website we have listed some places where you can submit your articles.

Remember that your articles do not have to be about the products or service you are selling, but if you are having trouble trying to figure out something to write about this would be a good place to start. Writing about something that you know is a good place to start. Share your knowledge on a topic and let other people learn from what you know. Information should be free and people should not have to pay to learn something new. This is my take on it. You might have different views on this but in the end it will be a good source of traffic/customers coming to your site.

Social Bookmarking Sites

Social bookmarking sites have been around for awhile and have been proven to be a great way to increase the traffic coming to your website. Social bookmarking allows people to promote your content by “voting” on it. The more votes that your content receives, the higher that it is ranked on the social bookmarking website, which typically means that more visitors will visit your site.

Blogging

The last thing that we are going to cover in this post is blogging. Blogging is a great way to increase traffic to your website because the content on the blog is generally updated multiple times a week and search engines will pick up on the constant updates which means that you will typically be ranked higher in the search results. Blogs do not have to be the entire website, they can be installed in a folder and include a link on the main page to it. They are easy to update and typically bring in a good amount of visitors.

Content Writing

Writing content for your website may seem like a hard thing to do, but in reality it is not too difficult. Even if you are not a writer you can still write effective content for your domains. The topic of the content for your website needs to be the same as the topic of your domain name which means that you already have good idea of the things you need to write about.

Keywords

When writing content for your domains it is extremely important that you include keywords in your articles. Keywords are what allows the search engines show your site in search results. Choose keywords that are based on the topic of your domain and incorporate them into your articles somehow. Do not just stuff your articles full of keywords though, because search engines such as Google frown upon this act.

Clear Content

Content that is clear and easy to read will do wonders for your domain or website. Content that is hard to read or unorganized can have negative effects on what we are trying to accomplish. So when writing content for your website, make sure it is clear, easy to read, and provides the information that the reader is looking for.
Promote Your RSS Feeds

RSS stands for Really Simple Syndicate and allows people to view your post without actually going to your website or blog. This is a great way to promote your information and get more visitors to your site.

Submit To Feed Directories

The first step to promotion your RSS feed is to submit it to feed directories. This not only promotes your RSS feed but it will help get backlinks to your website. Typically RSS directories allow you to submit your feed to them for free.

RSS Graphic

Placing an RSS graphic on your website will allow your readers to know that you offer RSS. The RSS graphic is a standard graphic that is used across thousands of websites which means that users that use RSS are trained to look for this graphic. If the reader uses a RSS reader they will be more likely to click on the RSS graphic to get access to your feed.

Auto-Discovery

Enable auto-discovery by putting a simple line of code on your site will automatically tell the browser that there is an RSS feed on that site. When the site automatically tells the user that there is a RSS feed it is doing some of the promotion for you.
RSS is a great way to promote your site and information that you have on your site. Blogs are one of the largest users of RSS feeds because they can share quickly find out what is going on in the world with a few clicks. Promote your RSS feeds to receive more users of your site, not just visitors.

Comment On Blogs

Commenting on other blogs is another way to promote your blog or website. When commenting write something that is interesting about the post. Writing something interesting that gets the reader thinking about who wrote it will do wonders for your Internet marketing campaign. Comment on every blog that you visit throughout the day, you will be surprised at how easy it is to get more backlinks to your website using this method.

Conclusion

All the techniques that were featured in this guide are proven methods of increasing traffic to your website. Most of them are free ways that really can have a huge impact if taken advantage of. This guide is not an end all guide to Internet Marketing because there are so many other ways that you can promote your website. If you know more ways of promoting websites or blogs let us know and we will feature your way on our blog with as well as your site. Good luck on your marketing campaigns!

Uhhh, if you only spend 30 minutes in a PPC campaign, you will probably loose a fortune. PPC is every bit as time consuming as natural SERPS to set up.

If you are spreading misinformation about PPC I have to assume the rest is as well. I didn't bother to read it.

If this is misinformation about PPC campaigns, please tell me how long you are suppose to spend on setting up an account?

Depends on the campaign I guess. 30 minutes might be ok to set up a campaign assuming you've already done your keyword research. I think Bill's point is that if you want the campaign to be truly successful you need to consistently monitor how well it's perfomring and continue to adjust things to increase your return.

The difference might be semantic where we're talking about the initial set up in one place and the ongoing management of the campaign in another.

To set up a decent ppc campaign usually takes hundreds of ads, targeted landing pages for each ad, and a bunch of keyword research. Sorry, that's not a 30 minute venture.

Have to agree with Bill here. Going through the mechanics of setting up the account and writing a PPC ad (note emphasis on "a" PPC ad, as opposed to an effective PPC ad) takes 30 minutes or less.

But to research keywords, write a landing page that properly pays off the ad, figure out the bid amount, etc., takes time. And tweaking.

If you're testing various PPC ads, which you should be, then you need to create a different landing page for each ad, or different versions of the same landing page. More time.
