I am starting up my own business with various products and I was wondering if there are any software that will scan sites and check prices of the the products that I have listed on my website so I can be competitively priced. I am new to this so any information you can give me would be great thanks. Robyn

I believe this type of software script is called a scraper.

Yep and it's quite possible you'd need one custom programmed to find exactly what you want. Also know that many sites don't like to be scraped

You really don't need to set prices based on what everyone else charges. If you look at a handful of websites you'll be able to tell what's competitive. You're better off charging based on any extra value you can provide. If you compete on price alone the next guy will just lower his price, forcing you to lower yours again. Pretty soon you're both selling below cost. Business that compete on cost are those that do a lot of volume. Walmart can compete on price. Mom and Pops grocery down the street can't.
