2 other businesses in my field have figured out a way to promote their businesses on my facebook page......they tag their picture with my page name and their ad/post appears on my page.... to me its over the line...i deleted it.... i kind of think these people think its ok.... one is a friend...the other is from 1000 miles away...is this widespread? is it the new morals? will my friend know i deleted it?

The fact you deleted the tagged picture, Ann, means you will no longer see it. But, will this mean that your fans will not see it?

I think you deleting a tagged picture simply means it is deleted from your feed, and I suspect that other people visiting your page will still see it because they haven't deleted it from their feed.

I'm not certain about that and would welcome comment from other Facebook users. As a test, tell us about the tagged picture you deleted and I'll visit your page to see if I still see it.

I'm seeing only two from you so far today--

Green Oak Antiques shared their own album: November 19, 2011. (posted c.8.20am)
Green Oak Antiques - lots of little birds around the store.... (posted c 7.20am)
Green Oak Antiques - DO YOU USE PINTEREST? ... (Yesterday at 6:54am)

Between each of them is one from Cassy Mullins and another from Author Dragica Lord, both of which seem quite genuine.

....so it would appear that your deletion is total.

It is a tactic that can still work. Ethically though, not worth it. Remember that you are trying to attract people not game the system.

Becareful about tagging your name to pics. Do you actually know what's in the TAG? All your Fb info. Pics are a great way to get hacked. I do not tag or allow people to tag me.

Ann, Next time you should try to "untag" the photo and then delete it. I know you can untag on personal pages, not sure if you can on business pages. There is no way I would allow a competitor to advertise on my page.
