I am currently making a website for a small business as part of my school project. And one of the requirements is to use a variety of resources like questionnaires, surveys, telephone interviews, emails, etc. for researching. Right now I'm at the stage where I'm starting to develop my final solution. I am thinking about which markup language I should use for the website and this depends on the target audience. I need to decide whether to stick with the old, stable XHTML or go with the new, hyped up HTML5 (leaning towards HTML5). I need your opinion guys. Here is my survey:

Software Usage at Work (Survey) (https://docs.google.com/a/papanui.school.nz/spreadsheet/viewform?hl=en_US&formkey=dHZOSktmM2FjaTlpdEhUdkJsbTUtbFE6MQ#gid=0)

Please fill in this survey.

I filled it out. Just so you know I've been playing around with html5 lately and you can safely use it. It's easy to get it working in all browsers now named Internet Explorer and even works in IE9. Older versions of IE require a little bit of work, though not a lot. The only place you're really find a problem is if your audience is using IE6 or IE7 and had Javascript disabled. That's probably not going to be a lot of people.

I recently worked through a demo showing how I set up a typical blog post page using html5 (http://www.vanseodesign.com/web-design/html5-semantic-demo/) if you're interested.
