Does anyone have a good source for salary data for planning purposes?

I want to start planning a few hires in detail and I need to figure out what a realistic price will be for those people. For example, I know I'll need to hire an IT person who has the basic Microsoft certification (MCSE).

Bill, have you looked at www.salary.com (http://www.salary.com)? They seem to have a number of research options.

I'll check on it - I haven't had too much time for that yet.

I am moving this weekend - I'm looking forward to more free time after.

Have you also tried looking at online job boards, this may show some idea of what other's are currently offering.

I'll just echo both Paul and Joel. I think Salary.com has some good data, but I also like to check classifieds to see what the going rate is. Keep in mind when you're hiring you'll be competing with the other businesses placing ads looking for similar people. Look online more than offline since you're looking to hire IT people.

Monster.com also has salary information.

That is quite a website. I was just checking it out briefly and looks to be pretty accurate as far as I can tell. Will look at it a little further for sure.
Thanks Paul. Good info.
