Hi all,

Due to fried hard drive with out backing up:mad:, a friend told me about an system call personal cloud sever he been using for sharing video and photo. it can be setup as an server, support 2 hard drives which you can mirror for backing up files, setting up files sharing any location in the world for sending those large files. and web access for sales material.

Cause he only use for video and photo and can't answer all my questions. I turn to this active forum hoping for business owners had bump in this technology before.

I use cloud computing at AirSet (http://airset.com)

There are certain advantages for groups, large and small, that want or need to work on the same files.

I don't mind the $5 dollars monthly charge, but only 20GB file storage is not enough for business use.

With Airset are you hosting you sever? or sending information to a 3rd party server?

Will Airset able to back up files?

You can try something like Amazon S3 (http://aws.amazon.com/s3/). The price is dependent on how much space you need. I assume you'll pay more than $5 a month, but I don't believe there's a space limit. I know you mentioned personal cloud storage in your initial post, but if you're thinking 20GB won't be enough then I think what you want is something more than personal.

You may also want to search for Content Delivery Networks (CDN) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Content_delivery_network). It's less about having storage on a server for backup purposes and more about having your data on multiple servers throughout the world so when someone tries to access your data they can do so from whichever server is closest to them.

I mention CDN, because I wasn't specifically sure your reasons for wanting to make use of the cloud. Is it more about backing up your data or being able to deliver your data to your customers, clients, or site visitors?

Will Airset able to back up files? I don't know - I am only a user of group files adminstered by a group administrator. Airset will be able to answer your questions.

hmm, I going need to setup a new server system, after google I found data storage giants are selling a product call network drive. it was designed more for personal use then business, but for a two men company like us should work.

we need basic data storage, data back up, and web access to server for sales material,

personal cloud server is seem to be more advance, and I would like to heard from people using them
