This article came through my feedreader today and I thought some of you might find it helpful.

5 Facebook Applications to Add Useful Tabs to Your Facebook Fan Page (http://www.searchenginejournal.com/5-applications-for-the-perfect-facebook-fan-page/26730/)

The applications are:

1. Static FBML - basically html for Facebook
2. FAQ tab
3. Youtube Video (Channel) - this one requires a name, email, and phone number so maybe not one to trust.
4. Reviews
5. Contact form

I think the names of the applications alone will give you a good idea why they'd be useful.

Anyone using any of these or similar applications?

I've used FBML & Reviews. The FAQ & Contact Page ones are new to me and I've just always loaded video directly into FB rather than through YouTube (though I almost always post them on YouTube too)

Tee hee...just noticed that article was written by Ann Smarty, I wrote a press release for her last year :-)

Dave those both sound pretty useful. Do you find people use them without you having to do much or do you need to give them a little push toward the applications?

Patrysha, Ann's a good person. I can't say I know her personally, but I've moved in and out of some of the circles she hangs out in online. Definitely one of the people I respect in the world of seo and internet marketing.

The reviews one could be fun. I would be worried about the spam factor though. Or people posting a review just to get a link, which, I guess, is the definition of spam. You would have to monitor that one pretty closely I'd think.

By the same token you'd have to monitor your wall or any other part of Facebook where your customers could post their own content. It's the nature of life on the web. I don't think it's limited to one Facebook application.

FBML is pretty much the cornerstone of any page customization and it's usually what I use to create a contact form, and F.A.Q tab as well.
I use the review app. So far no spam, but there are only a handful of reviews on it.
There is a You Tube app that is less intrusive that allows you to just post any video and it displays in a gallery. I'll have to look and get a link for it.

Involver has some pretty cool apps for those who want to get fancy. Many are premium but if you want to get that "next level, corporate" thing going, they are pretty on the ball:

I use the page app on a couple of different FB pages and I really like it:
