I used to post a lot of stuff for sale on craigslist and always got a ton of emails from people. I would spend time responding to everyone only to get back responses from scammers and spammers. I got more spam emails than real ones. It was frustrating.

I got sick of this. I created a simple website where anyone can look up an email address that has been entered into our database to see if it has been listed as a spammer/scammer/low baller or no show.

I've already started listing the emails that I have received over the past few weeks.

I know that there emails are changing constantly but I figure it's better than nothing.

I made the design simple because it is more for reference than anything else. I'm not sure if there are other websites like mine. I also kept it completely free and only supported by Google ads. I don't care if it makes money as my hosting is only $8.00 a month and it is pretty much a self sufficient site.

I'm just tired of all of the scammers on the classified ads sites.

Check it out at Gozoli.com (http://www.gozoli.com) and feel free to submit any scam or spam emails you have received into the database to help it grow.

What happens once they are listed on this website? That won't stop them sending out emails will it? Is this suppose to be something like Ripoff Reports?

There's nothing stopping them. This will mainly be for consumers to search by email before they waste time getting into an email exchange with someone and finding out it is a scam email.

I actually really appreciate this idea. I recently was job AND apartment hunting via Craigslist and ran into all kinds of scams that appeared legit at first. The worst was the job ones - You spend 2 hours customizing a resume and cover letter and then click "Send" only to get an auto-response back asking you to join some pyramid scheme or purchase some kind of "how to get rich" report. In this economy - that's just cruel.

On the apartment end, they post pictures of nice looking apartments with local addresses and then when you email them, they say they are living in another country, but can "mail you the keys" if you send them a deposit.

I hope your site grows so I can start checking email addresses before I waste my time.

Good luck.

Just wanted to add a quick aside.
There are plenty of reputable apartment listing sites online:
Apartments.com
Rent.com
ApartmentGuide.com
and your local newspaper.
You don't need to go to Craig's List to find out what's available in your area.

Same with jobs. There are reputable job boards for every industry in every area, and your local newspaper. No need to trust anyone on Craig's List for this either.

Craig's list is full of junk, scams and spam. I'm sure that you can find a decent deal or 2 there every now and then, but it's really all about using the right tool for the job and using a little common sense.
The only person that I know that uses Craig's List successfully to find employees, runs an escort agency and he still has to weed out felons, pimps and every other bottom feeder in the world.

Reputable people will list on reputable sites.

You may want to add to this site emails that are sending out virus or malware programs as well
to just alert people if they see this beware.
you may want to think about possibly following this up with a blog as well
just to increase awareness and group participation.
