Honest Abe has to be an all time classic. Very well done, especially the special effects that make it appear dated, right down to the sound. Communicating the idea and the comedy with such few lines is also an art form. I love that one.

Seems to be an ad battle right now between Allstate and Gieco. Allstate's "Mayhem" commercials aren't bad either. I love the line .."Your 15 minute car insurance won't cover my $90k car, so I sue you..'cause that's what I do."

Love marketing wars.

They also jab Progressive with "If you named your own price, you may be paying this on your own."

The thing is, Allstate is putting the others down. Like negative politics. Geico hasn't stooped to that level. I have Geico and even through an accident they had great service. Years ago, Allstate had a reputation of get into an accident, get canceled. I have no idea if that is still true, but the attack ads rub me the wrong way. I'm not even going to price shop, I'll stay with Geico. And I do love their ads. The Progressive ad campaign has been cleaver branding as well.

I don't see it as a "put down" or anything dirty. Just good clean ribbing and competition. I've watched all the major brands do it from Soda to Fast Food to Beer my whole life. I don't take it as malicious at all...it's funny.
Remember Clara Peller and Wendy's "Where's the Beef?" commercials? They were making fun of McDonalds and Burger King..but it was funny.

To me the difference is the Wendys commercial was funny. Allstate commercials just say "less than Geico" which to me as a salesman is poor salesmanship. I believe negative advertising is thought to be less effective, but politicians sure seem to go that route.
