Avatars do not appear to be working for us lay people. I think that may have been an oversight.

I can't find my custom avatar, either - also custom user title isn't available yet (I don't like being a junior member - too old for that!!)

Talking of age - I don't like the compulsory need for our birthdates in order to register. I use mine as a first level security and don't give it out willingly - in any case, the system accepts any old date so one can easily lie, so what's the point?!

(Thought I'd toss that in because you guys obviously don't have much to do, right?!) :D

I'll look into the avatars. Near as I can tell they should be working. I know there aren't any default avatars in the system. If anything you'll have to upload your own. They also need to be smaller than 80x80.

I'll see if I can figure out why it's not working.

Frederick it's pretty standard with forums to require birthday's on registration. You can elect not to have it show publicly. It's a simple way for the forum software to email you a happy birthday wish on your day (or made up day).

If it's an issue for people I can always shut it off, but I expect you'll understand if it's not at the top of the list.

It looks like the permission for avatars had been shut off. I turned it back so you should be good to go. Let me know if you have any more problems with them.

Thanks for turning on the avatars, VG.

Can you easily turn on the permission for members to create theri own Custom User Title? (It's on the same page as Edit Your Details, just above the Date of Birth.)

No problem if you can't - I just don't like being a Junior Member !

For the moment we were leaving those off, but it won't be forever. We're thinking of giving it as kind of a thank you to the first X members or something like that, but were thinking of waiting till we reached that many members. Ideally it won't be a long wait.

I am going to have to get to and take my business logo down to a avatar size i think, should have time for this on the weekend.

Also i think the birthdate thing is more then just the forum sending a birthday greeting, i thought there was also something with the age of registered users in there having to be over a certain age or some sort of form require if under that age, not really sure on that though

The age thing is a check, but only depending on the topic of the site. I don't think it matters for us so at the moment it's not set. I'll have to check to see if it needs to be though and if so turn that functionality on. It's kind of useless as a check though since it's not like we're checking people's driver's licenses.

Cool about your avatar. It'll be good to see an image for you. We do need to grab a default set of avatars for people to use and have to search around for some.
