Matt Cutts (head of Google's spam team) offered 3 tips for company bloggers (http://www.mattcutts.com/blog/three-tips-for-startup-bloggers/). I think they're relevant for all bloggers.

1. Don’t make hard promises about the future
2. Don’t trash talk a competitor
3. Don’t post when you’re angry

Simple, but all important.

Have you ever done any of the above and what happened when you did?

I've done #3. I wrote about the bad service I got from Charter Communications last year on the GSI blog as an example of bad customer service and how our company would never be like that. It actually worked out. The head of their customer service read my post and contacted me and I ended up getting some money off my bill. So then I wrote a follow up post telling what they did.

Guess I have to write another post now after the e-mail fiasco.

#3 is a good life lesson. It's always best to give a little time before a response when you're angry. It works for forum posting too.
