Hi Everyone, I would like for my customers to be able to add items to my store to a gift registry on my website. Does anyone have any suggestions about an easy way to do this? I did a quick google search and myregistry.com came up as one possible solution but I don't know anything about it. Does anyone have thoughts on this topic?

Would a Wish List work? Some shopping cart applications will have a wish list feature built in. Not all, but certainly some.

I don't specifically know of any applications with gift registry functionality built in, but I would think something exists. If not you may need to hire someone to custom develop one for you.

If you want quick then I might look for shopping cart software that comes with Wish List functionality.

I did a Google search and here's what I found. These are open source or free

My Gift List (http://www.mygiftlist.com/)
Giftula (http://download.cnet.com/GIFTULA-Free-Universal-Gift-Registry-Plug-in/3000-2378_4-10788785.html)
Ewish (http://www.ewish.com/)

I actually have heard of myregistry.com because my cousin made her wedding registry there. As a customer, I thought it was a very nice website that was easy to use. It was kind of different than a normal gift registry because it allows the registrant to register for gifts from any store they wish and then myregistry provides the gift-givers with one registry list. I don't know much about their gift registry software for small businesses, but I found this information on their website:

MyRegistry.com: Universal Gift Registry Solutions (http://www.myregistry.com/webwidget/)

After briefly looking over this page, it seems like they make a valid point that partnering with an established registry site would drive more traffic to your website from people who would normally only register with the bigger companies (the bed bath & beyonds, crate & barrels, and what have yous). If you don't limit customers by making them make the decision to only register at your store and maybe one other, then perhaps you would have more of a shot at getting customers to register for items from your store.

Like I said, the only real experience I have with myregistry is using it as a customer for my cousin's wedding and what I quickly read on their site, but it sounds like it might be worth investigating a little more. I hope this has helped and good luck with whatever you decide!

BusinessNewbie, did you find any luck in creating a registry for your business? I looked through myregistry.com and I don't think that's what you (or myself) are looking for. Any advice?

Thank you!

There are a bunch here Gift Registry Scripts (http://www.hotscripts.com/search/all/gift+registry) if you know how to add scripts to your site.
