Frederick Pearce aka. Spider.

I was kinda 'awarded' that nickname a few years ago when I was part of a community of specialty directories and got into a lot of difficulty with the spider-robot thingy that was to help us populate our directories. I have been Spider ever since on all forums in which I participate.

I am a business mentor, personal coach, public speaker and author, and conduct business through my website at FrederickPearce.com (http://frederickpearce.com)

I have two books out - "So, Who Wants To Be a Millionaire?" ( want-to-be-a-millionaire.com (http://want-to-be-a-millionaire.com) ) and "Keep Your Eyes On The Prize" ( now available at Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/141969023X/i45mc-20). )

=================

The only trouble with that introduction is, it involves a bit of advertising. Is advertising going to be allowed here? Other forums of which I am a part either allow a little advertising in one's introduction and/or have a separate Classified section for members with over a certain number of posts (50, for example) to advertise no more than once a week. Other than that, advertising in the the rest of the forum is not allowed.

What are we going to do?

Welcome to our new home Frederick. I always wondered where you username came from. I was not thinking spiders and robots though.

In general we aren't go to let people advertise, but this section is an exception. It's ok to promote yourself a little in your introduction as long as it's not over the top.

A classified section is a thought for the future. I think vBulletin has built in controls for that, but I haven't explored the options yet.

But as a rule we don't want to see posts that exist solely for self-promotional reason.

Welcome. Yeah, we're still working on those rules. I expect to have at least part of them up later, but I have other obligations that will take me away for a while here. I'm leaving any minute now, but I'll see y'all later. Glad to have you over here with us Spider, and thanks for sharing the reason for the name.

Welcome Spider.

As Vangogh said, a little self promotion is allowed when you introduce yourself. What we're looking for is good solid contributions that add something to the disucssion. If all you're doing is promoting your services in every post, you're not adding any new ideas.

The rules regarding that sort of thing will be up soon.

Yep, I just rolled back in, so that's what I'll be doing is working on those rules.
