I started to put this in Bill's thread about Jazz, but decided not to hijack that thread with my personal request :)

In short - my cousin's band - le Percolateur, in Chicago, has a chance to open for Bela Fleck and The Fleckstones. His band describes their music as "hipster gypsy jazz" and many of their songs are written by my cousin, Sam. Chicago Bluegrass and Blues is hosting the contest and will pick the winner from among the top five finalists. le Percolateur is currently in 8th place. If you have a minute and don't mind, we'd appreciate a vote (http://cbbfestival.com/contests/profile.php?aid=160) for him - there are a couple of direct links to their music on the contest page (http://cbbfestival.com/contests/profile.php?aid=160) and their website address (http://www.lepercolateur.com) is there as well for more music. (It's a myspace page and loads pretty slowly.)

Thanks!
Oh and if you want the longer version and a chance to win a gift card... drop by my blog post (http://crazydogslife.blogspot.com/2009/10/pretty-please-with-gift-certificate-up.html) about this. And Steve... if I'm breaking rules here, delete this thread - no hard feelings!

Jenn :D

You have my vote. Oddly hipster gypsy jazz is a really good description. I listened to both songs on the voting page and as soon as they started to play I knew that description was perfect.

No worries about breaking any rules. We don't want people signing up just to promote something, but when people take the time to participate and contribute, I'm happy if they can get a little something back.

Thanks guys! They are up into the top 5 now. The way the contest reads the winner will be chosen from the top 5 vote getters so... now we're just working to keep them in the top 5 and see what happens from there!

I voted again since you can vote more than once.
