Challenge acquiring pens and stationery

I am wondering how one goes about acquiring a very well stocked store with items I choose. For example, I live in Canada and I would like to stock very high-quality pens and notebooks from Japan. Do I have to find wholesalers with a catalogue of items that I would want(this is the challenging part), or should I connect directly to the company that makes the specific items?
