A city of 80,000+ has been forced to evacuate in northern Alberta. This appears to be one of the worst disasters (so far Halifax explosion was worse) in Canadian history.

I hope people are ok and everyone can get to a safer place. We get wildfires in Colorado so I know what it's like. I've been fortunate where I live, but people on the other side of town (about 10 minutes away and closer to the mountains) have had to evacuate in the past. I have seen fires going in the mountains at times too. It's not uncommon during fire season to walk outside and smell or see a fire that's raging a nearby town.

I'll keep everyone in Alberta in my thoughts.

I've seen pictures of this fire. It looks horrifying. I'm definitely keeping a good thought for everyone in the area where the fire is.

Thought I'd put in an update.

I've heard that some experts believe these fires to be man made. Whether this means an out of control campfire or worse, I don't know.

Here's another article with a lot of pictures.

Thoughts and prayers to all involved.

On a side note: I have a book called Big Burn on tape and it is a great story to hear.
