I am trying to find an accounts software solution for a small business with 6 employees who all use mac, but we do have a number of window xp systems in the office also.
I would like employee time tracking software to integrate with my accounts package as we are a time-based service business.
My accountant uses windows and supports QuickBooks and sage, but you cannot get either as mac version in Ireland!

I am considering two options:

1. Purchasing Quickbooks for windows, but is there a mac version time-tracking software that will import into Quickbooks for windows?

2. MYOB accounts edge plus, but can I export this as a file my accountant can use in windows?

Or is there another option?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

My business is just me, but I am on a Mac. I use a program called Billings to handle invoices. I'm still learning the program, but it does do things like time tracking and it connects nicely to Address Book for adding contacts.

The company who makes it is called Marketcircle (http://www.marketcircle.com/index.html) and they have another program called Daylite (http://www.marketcircle.com/daylite/)

Daylite is a business productivity manager designed to help you manage your business and your team. With features such as project collaboration, shared calendars, task delegation, and sales tracking, Daylite helps you move your business forward.

It does connect to MYOB Account Edge (it's mentioned down on the right below the image)

Could you buy Quickbooks for Mac (http://quickbooks.intuit.com/product/accounting-software/mac-accounting-software.jsp) online?

As far as exporting to Quickbooks I'm not sure. I would hope you could with most of these, but I don't know.

You may also be able to find QB for Mac's on eBay as well... I don't see a huge issue with purchasing it. One of my clients had used the Mac version, and it was very much the same as the Window's version.

Most accountants use only QuickBooks and Peachtree with customers. It becomes a hassle to have more applications, as you are forced to keep every version of each of these products as each client has a different version of QuickBooks or Peachtree.

If that doesn't work, you may want to ask if you could just do a print out of reports to provide your accountant for whatever needs you may have. Generally an accountant will look for a trial balance mainly, and probably a detailed income statement and balance sheet (to analyze the account activity).

I use to bank a company called Time Clocks Plus. They have created a great time keeping software package that could be modified for your personal needs - I am not sure about which platform but - they have been in business for nearly 20 years and I would assume they have a product for the MAC (know they have one for windows). I have no affiliation with them and have not for nearly 5 years or so - but, might try their website to see what they offer.

You can check this one: Free Accounting Software (http://www.freeaccountingsoftware.net/)

The accounting task mainly includes back-office services and is works as a support staff to production and marketing team of any organization. Accounts department performs bookkeeping, general ledger, tax computation and filing, data entry, spreadsheet and statutory form completion and submission work.

I haven't tried this software. The issue with most deviations from QB and Peachtree is that many accountants don't provide support for it. So if you have issues and are hoping the accountant can just make the entries -- it won't happen. He'll have to give you the entries to manually record.
