Hey guys,

I recently opened a single-member LLC. It's an in-home music tutoring business. In my tutor contract and parent/student contract I have lines that say the business will be held harmless for everything before, during, after lesson, etc. I was looking to also add liability insurance just to really cover my bases. Where should I go to for this? Any specific companies/policies to look for?

Thanks!

Go to the people who provide your home owner's insurance. They should offer an umbrella liability policy, but they also might require you to beef up your homeowner's and/or car insurance before selling you that (because they want the other insurance to kick in first if you get into a car wreck, for example). As an alternative, they might be able to write a business liability policy. If your current insurance people don't offer it, they'll know someone who will offer it in your area.
