Introduction Posting Guidelines

Let me be the first to say welcome to the SBF! I know you will find this to be a very friendly place, and since you are reading this, you are just the kind of new member who will find this to be a great forum.

Here are just a few basics to get you started:

Read other threads on the forum. This will give a better sense of the community and you will get to know us rather quickly this way.

Don't be shy. Feel free to tell us about yourself and your business, or the business you are thinking about or starting. You should try to avoid sounding too self-promotional, but we are interested in knowing about you, so don't be afraid to share or even tastefully toot your horn a little. It's perfectly OK to be proud of your business.

Treat us like you want to be treated. If you follow that rule alone, you will have a great time here, and pretty much follow all our guidelines automatically.

There is only ONE intro thread per customer. Most people know this instinctively, but we just need to say it. If you accidently push a wrong button and create more than one, a friendly administrator will be happy to clean up the spill. The same goes for a duplicate post, which is even easier to have happen.

It's OK to use links in your intro. This is the one place where we are more lienient of new members posting links. The spammers who just post for links are pretty easy for us to spot. Links from honest members are allowed and even welcomed. In other areas of the forum, you will quickly gain an understanding of how links are used in posts and when they cross the line where admins delete them.

Be sure to take advantage of a Signature File. These can be set up using the Settings link at the top of the page. You can always modify it later, but it's a good idea to set one up early in your membership. More info on the rules for "sig files" is available in our forum rules (http://www.small-business-forum.net/forum-news-announcements/43-tos-forum-rules.html).

Our goal here is simply to have the best online community for small business. You have found a place that is well managed so it can be beneficial to its members. This is a place for small business owners, and those wanting to become small business owners, to connect, gain insights from each other, and grow together.

We also have a complete list of forum rules (http://www.small-business-forum.net/forum-news-announcements/43-tos-forum-rules.html) designed to help make this the best online business community. We encourage you to read the rules mostly because you are also a valuable part of helping us keep this forum meeting the needs of its members. Those who are here for the right reasons will appreciate that the admins are on your side.

With that said, enjoy the forum.
