So I'm launching a new website and have been trying to contact business regarding my structure and plan for the site. I figured it might be good to post here to hear from some small business owners about it, and to get feedback, suggestions, etc, on this idea. Without further adieu:
Basically, the structure is business sponsoring songs and artists. It's on a per download basis, and there are no annoying ads. The users will always know who is sponsoring their favorite musicians, which in turn means you're getting new fans as well (I mean, pop up ads and videos are pesky, but sponsorships make a family, whether consciously or subconsciously). All you do is pay for the download when it happens. In turn, it's like putting your company on a sports jersey, but instead of a jersey, it's a song.
That's the idea in short. Would you basically be willing to pay, per download, to sponsor songs? Of course, the flexibility will be extensive (budgets, personal preferences, etc). If not, what suggestions do you have? It's a collaborative effort, so don't be afraid to offer input and advice =)

As part of the song, would there be a statement like "this song sponsored by _________" that would be heard at the beginning of the song?

Actually, it'd be all text. Before the text of the lyrics, on the music player, and on the website. It'd be obvious to both the artist and fan what you did, but would be unintrusive.

Hello
The best thing to motive your sponsors is to give them a motivating return, such as telling them that they become COPRODUCER of the song, they can also organize concert for the band or singer they sponsor, people can film and post tweet, videos, facebook massage about it...Make them filling involved and if a CD is then released, propose them a share of profit on it. What is the name of your website. I can have a look, I'm a TV commercial producer but I used to be producer and anchor of a radio show.... long time ago, in France;

Thanks for the interest and ideas, but we're currently trying to fund the site (unsuccessfully, but that just means more marketing on my part!) so it doesn't really exist; it's just idea. I do want to keep it as "organic" as possible for the artists (i.e. not giving up creative control), but I do want to make it a bit personal between companies and artists. So while your proposal wouldn't be out of the question, it would be between you and the artists. Basically, you'd make the sponsorship as personal as you want it to be, and I'm sure the artists wouldn't mind returning the favor.
Also, considering it would be a social media platform too . . . that makes communication easier =)
