after my current website is having competitors trying to pretend to be me ive been considering having a theme/slogan to distance myself....there's a guy locally who advertises himself as the smell good plumber.....he even owns a separate website called just that.....its odd, very odd....but its something unique and memorable....if someone pretended to be him it wouldn't work because it didn't have their theme and tag line...

im considering using 'the high performance plumber' as my theme...I put racing stripes on my van already....and I use superior performing parts already.....so all I need to do is incorporate my website and advertising.....putting racing stripes on my logo somewhere.....changing the text on my website geared to the theme

the big question.....does this make me sound too expensive....I think it may

to be the smell good plumber costs nothing but some Old Spice....but to be a High Performance Plumber means your parts cost more (which they do)

I DO want my website to screen the price shoppers/cheap skates.....my old website must have too much....because I didn't get any calls, but the ones I got always turned into jobs...my new website is getting me tons more calls/jobs 8x-10x more.....but its also brought back the price shoppers....so I think I have finally found the perfect mix to screen most cheapskates and also grab the higher end customers........and now im considering changing it up

opinions?

I personally LOVE the speed stripes! I'm not sure if I like "High performance plumber".... "Smell good plumber".. sounds kind of lame but to be honest it is a bit more appealing to me because as a home owner, I like everything clean and smelling good lol!

I think you should keep trying to come up with some more ideas and see what sticks. I'm surprised I haven't come up with one yet with my boyfriend.. we come up with the most ridiculous things.

Anyway here are some funny ones I found for your inspiration:

As you can see.. everyone is playing off their own unique name. You don't have a unique company name.. yours is just "Town Service" name. You will need to just play off the plumbing itself.

I like the word "performance".. i jut don't think "high" is a catchy term... so maybe "Performance plumbing done right..."? I like Freelancier's idea more though.. but feel it may be a bit long.

High performance plumber is as creative as I get....

the stripes make me stand out....I have a car that matches it, so my car buddies laugh at me...I think its kinda cool

anyone else have an idea?......ive been considering using you Elwira to do a new logo for me....but I need a slogan first

the smell good plumber is hugely successful...they are service only....very expensive, but I see their stickers all the time on jobs....the slogan doesn't make sense to me, but I think its geared towards house wives who don't want a smelly guy in their house......maybe I could be the 'no butt crack plumber'

You need a catchy slogan... maybe something that makes people laugh. Something like I found doing a search for plumbing slogans. "Your crap is my bread and butter", #1 @ #2.

That said. I am also at a stump for a slogan for my company. The Mug Man. I make full color mugs for promos and I also make aluminum, wood and canvas prints. It started with just mugs, thus the name, and I have expanded. Do I need to change the name? This would be a ton of work and expense.

Thanks,
Ron

Sorry, I duplicated the above and couldn't delete it so I just changed it to this.

Slogans are hard. In 5 years, I've never been able to come up with one that I felt good about the next day. I agree that you should spit ball a few different options and variations on a list and start crossing them off over a few days or weeks, test them out with family, and friends, until there's only one standing...and then commit to it.

The scary part is, if you're wrong it could do harm to your business and be hard to recover from.

right now I really don't have a slogan...I use 3 words I copied from a plumbing magazine article....they stuck so well I cant even remember them off the top of my head from my own company...I never use them, but they are on the side of my van

Integrity, intelligence, and Excellence

(I had to look at one of my fliers)

its not a tag line....it works though....I also use DO IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME!

Still trying to find an angle to fit in THE PERFORMANCE PLUMBER or THE HIGH PERFORMANCE PLUMBER......I can see Woz's opinion on not liking the word High....It may sound better as The Performance Plumber....has the same meaning, shorter

I also use DO IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME! :)

The question is: what's your best potential client's biggest want/need and biggest fear? Answer that in 6 words or less and you have your slogan.

BTW, my consulting firm has the word "Byte" in the name... and some of my cards have the following slogan:

"We eat the competition"

It gets the client's attention.

I think the "High Performance Plumber" is better than "Smell Good Plumber" although people may associate it with a higher price. If your work is good then people may be happy to pay a higher premium for it. Your reputation as a plumber is what matters most.
