need help on one business problem
Hi guys,
I am wondering if any of you have tried email marketing? I find email marketing is not working for me after I tried for almost two months. i sell windows and doors, so I write to construction company, developers, but I didn't get much reply.if they are not the right client group? how to find out who will be the most suitable client for me? will appreciate if anyone has similar experience and have a good answer to my problem. thank you very much.

If you don't know who your best client is going to be, we won't either. E-mail marketing tends to have very low response rates, lower than regular mail marketing, just because e-mail marketing has many more barriers between the sender and the recipient.

A lot of unsolicited sales emails go right to a junk folder or get wiped out by a spam filter. It's very easy to add an IP address or email to a blacklist that gets picked up by every hosting company,
On top of that most people won't even open an email from someone they don't recognize. Especially if it's from a free email account or gibberish domain. I certainly don't. Especially with so much phishing going on. Anyone versed in at least simple preventative security doesn't open unsolicited emails.
So unless it's an opt in list or they are warm leads, meaning that you have made some other form of contact before sending the emails, then yes..IMO you are wasting your time and pretty much just spamming people.

More experienced guys can set me straight if I'm wrong here, but I think for a product like this, you'd be best served selling the "old fashioned" way. It does make sense to sell windows and doors to construction companies and such, but I don't think that customer demographic uses email much. (Not for this, at least.) I would dress nice and go to them in person, talk to them, find out what their problems are and what they need, develop relationships with them. When you get them to think of you as "my window and door guy", they'll send you orders.
Edited to add: I just took a look at your website from your other thread and came up with another idea to tag onto this. Get a large tablet computer or laptop with a cellular modem (so you don't have to borrow wi-fi). Use it to show off your website when you do these in person visits. Use the website like a "demo dolly" to show off your products and services. The site has a few issues mentioned in the other thread, but it has the makings of a VERY nice alternative brochure. Do this instead of wasting money on printed brochures.

Have you tried calling your potential clients after you send them an email? Your potential clients are probably very busy and even though they may be interested in your product, they may not have time to get back to you.

MailChimp would be good to use, then you can see how many people are opening and engaging with your emails. Then you can see if it is actually worth it.

I'm sure all of us on here do some sort of email marketing. I can tell you that it works.
There could be a few reason why your emails are not getting a response or even worse... opened.
Could be the subject line, could be what you wrote and it could also be how you wrote it. Let us see what you wrote exactly, and I'm sure we could help form a better email.
What makes you different from the other window and door companies? What type of benefits come with using your windows and doors, and especially your customer service? Are you going to up at 3am to give me a quote on your windows or doors?
Get these companies on quick phone call with you from your first email. These people are too busy most of the time, so give them a reason to take 15 minutes to talk to you.
