Wait a second. You were home schooled, you didn't graduate from a high school. Instead, you get a GED. That graduation ceremony is for students of that high school. You are were NOT a student there. Nor does it appear that they are withholding a diploma, you are getting one from the state. You didn't attend that school, so why should they give you a diploma???

Also, Syracuse has a min requirement score on the SAT of 1240. You didn't meet that, so don't blame the high school.

As for taking this to court, are you kidding me!?!?!?!

Sorry about the rant, but this whinny, entitlement attitude stinks. Grow up, get on with your life. Stop wasting time on the negative and work on the positive.

I get my high school diploma through the state, not my GED. The state can grant diplomas to home school students. What do you mean I'm not a student there? They keep my school email and my school ID number (2017032) so the government pays for me to go to school there.

Also, it's very clear you don't know how college admissions processes work because colleges don't release official SAT requirements. It's always a rough estimate. My friend just got accepted and get scored 10 points lower than me and he's going to become a doctor.

Why is it always whiny entitlement whenever a millennial says anything to a baby boomer? From my experience, baby boomers are the most entitled people I have ever seen.

You are a student were you attended classes, in your case you are a home-school student. Be strong about what you are, not about what you are not. The government doesn't pay for you to go anywhere, the taxpayers do. I pay taxes that support the local high school, yet clearly I am not a student of that school.

I've been through the process a couple of times already at some big named schools and I'm getting ready to go through it again. I know the ropes. While the estimates are not perfect, they tend to be close. Yes, it is possible for other factors to off set a average SAT score. Syracuse has a lower acceptance rate of only 48%, so you need to have a resume in place that beats out 52% of the other students that apply at Syracuse. All things being equal, and assuming that many of those with lower SAT won't apply to Syracuse, you will need a min SAT in the 70 to 80 percentile. If you really wish to attend, I suggest you really buckle down the first year and get perfect or near perfect grads, then try to transfer in after that year. If necessary try again after 2 years. If that does work, a lot can be said about graduating with high marks at a smaller school. Recent studies have shown that students with high marks at smaller colleges can achieve careers equals to those attending larger schools. Your ability to achieve is more about you than the school you attend.

My comments weren't addressed at a specific generation, they were address at your original post. Sorry, they came across a little harsher than I would have liked. But the truth is that you did not attend classes at the high school, so you were not a student there. Don't dwell on that. Instead, look upward and forward to what you can accomplish. Dwelling and expending energy on the past that you can't change serves no purpose and is a diversion away from your potential.

That's because we are paying for everything. I'm only 44 but I believe someone your age would round me in with them.

I don't know about where you live, but I've always heard around here schools get money for attendance. So if you are not attending - they are not getting paid. Why would they permit you have all the fun without paying for it. Like others said, they are probably abiding by their rules.

Because...welcome to America where everyone thinks they're the only ones who work hard, pay taxes, contribute to society and everyone else is a bunch of lazy freeloaders who they and they alone support with their taxes.

AND..where older people look at younger people like whiny, spoiled, entitled brats, and younger people look at older people like out of touch grouches who are stuck in the past and think that no one younger could possibly have anything to offer or learn from.

It's as old as America itself.
