View Full Version : More changes for Facebook pages. Dropping FBML

If you have a custom page you know FBML is the mark up language that has long been the standard inside of Facebook.
Looks like they are going towards a more web complainancy and are moving away from FBML:

We are also moving toward IFrames instead of FBML for both canvas applications and Page tabs. As a part of this process, we will be standardizing on a small set of core FBML tags that will work with both applications on Facebook and external Web pages via our JavaScript SDK, effectively eliminating the technical difference between developing an application on and off Facebook.com.

Facebook is almost worse than Google on the stuff they decide to change.... my suggestion
to everyone is to have as many different incoming traffic sources to your site as you can get and
don't rely on any one source.

i cant understand the language..fbml is waaay outside my box...
..what does it mean for us? should we do anything?
i hope it means google will crawl facebook..... !!! no? do i ned to know anything about this? thanks...

I think from playing around with things over the last couple of weeks that the iframes will make it easier to customize fan pages.

Ann, you don't have to worry about it - even if you have a customized tabs in fbml those will continue to work for the time being, it's just from March 11th on that they won't be allowing new additions of the FBML app

what dan said is what im going for.....as many places as i can justify the time for...
